You see, the sun going down does not mean it is time to call it a night. Instead, your day is just getting started and what better way then watching the city come alive at night from a rooftop bar.

Octave
If you are looking for stunning 360-degree views of the city, Octave is the place to go. Octave Rooftop Lounge is located beginning on the 45th floor of the Marriot Hotel It is a three-level venue and offers the highest spot to party in the entire city. Octave was designed with the view of the city in mind. It has strategic seating set up so you can catch a spectacular view easily from many of the seats.
Octave Rooftop lounge offers a simple but tasty menu. Peppered calamari, Foie Gras Terrine, and chicken wings are some of the fares they offer. They have many local beers available, and a wine selection by the glass. The cocktail selection is pretty extensive. One drink is called Bloom Over the Roof and is a mojito style drink with a red fruit infusion and elderflower cordial. The Bangkok 57 is made with vodka infused with saffron with a little nip of champagne added. They also offer delicious mocktails if you prefer alcohol-free drinks.
The first level of Octave was made to feel like a traditional lounge area. It features antique Thai pottery, modern styled bucket chairs, wooden tables, walls covered in plants, and neon blue lighting. Large glass windows give you a view of the city. There is a DJ on staff who plays relaxing music. This level is ideal for a romantic dinner or a group meal. If you head up just one level the ambiance changes. It contains a balcony bar and is a great place to sit and enjoy the view. From this level, you can see the Chao Praya River’s dock area and Baiyoke Tower in the distance. The top floor is where the party is. It has a 360-degree view of the city with a rooftop bar. An eclectic mix of music is played that can range from Green Day to Beyoncé. Drinks are mixed with a flair, bottles flying.
The Octave has something for everyone and is well worth checking out.
Above Eleven
Above Eleven has an appropriate name, as it overlooks Sukhumvit’s Soi 11. They are located in the Fraser Suites on the 32nd and 33rd floors. Above Eleven is well known for their excellent cocktails and Nikkei cuisine. Nikkei cuisine is a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese foods.
The inspiration for Above Eleven came from New York’s Central Park. When you walk into Above Eleven, there are structural trees that were custom designed. There then is a vertical garden that guests must pass through to get to the bar area. The bathroom contains observatories which overlook the city. There is even a maze. Artificial grass is placed around the edges, adding to the park feel. The main lounge contains tree sculptures made of steel which reflect the city lights, adding to the ambience.
Above Eleven has Happy Hour from 6 to 8 P.M. During Happy Hour, select drinks are 50% off. Some drink favourites are the Mojito, Above Roll, and Arroz con Pollo. Remember that Above Eleven is hugely popular, so you may want to phone in reservations to ensure yourself a spot!
Nest Rooftop Lounge
The Nest Rooftop Lounge using a fun play on words, as it is nested in the Le Fenix Hotel on the eighth floor. The Nest Rooftop Lounge has been around for a long time, and while it is one of the lower level rooftop bars, it is well worth the trip. They offer Asian/European Fusion dishes and a large cocktail selection. They are known for their excellent Pad Thai, which can be chased with a Spicy Mango Margarita.
The Nest is known for their rattan cabanas, giving one the feeling of sitting on a beach getting away from it all. The platforms are sandy, adding to the beach ambience. On most nights a DJ spins tunes to keep the air festive, but on Thursdays, they feature live band performances. They also have themed nights that include the Barrito Latino night, featuring Latino dancers, and the Soul night, featuring house and jazz music. From 6 to 9 p.m. they have a Happy Hour and offer select drinks as a buy one, get one deal.
The Nest is a favourite on the famous Suk 11 Night Crawl.
Rise Rooftop Bar
Rise Rooftop Bar is located on the 12th floor of the TAS Sukhumvit Hotel. Finding the location is no problem since the Akyra stands out with decorative wooden boards that curve around the front of the hotel. Once you get to the top floor, you are greeted not only with the Rise Rooftop Bar, but also an infinity swimming pool.
Sip on a curated selection of craft beers, creative cocktails, hand selected wines and bubbles while listening to live music. Bar bites include a selection of Thai-inspired savoury bar snacks, BBQ grilled and smoked dishes and more substantial fare.
Brewski
If you are into craft beers and ciders, you will want to hit Brewski. Brewski carries over 100 craft beers and ciders. They have 12 always ready to go on tap, and the rest ready bottled or canned. Their tap beers are cooled using a state-of-the-art system, ensuring you get the best brew every time Brewski is located in the Radisson Blu Hotel on the 30th floor.
Brewski has a different promotion each day, so you never know what you might be able to get a deal on. They also feature a different beer every day, so you can try the beer of the day for a surprise. Some of the favourite brews include Wild Turkey Bourbon Stout, Belgium’s La Chouffe and Zeffer Crisp Green Apple. There truly is a brew for every palette. In addition to their amazing craft beer and cider selection, they have many unique beer-themed foods available as well. For instance, you can order a Beeramisu or a Brewski Burger.
The Brewski does not skimp on atmosphere either. They have an industrial style, featuring browns and greys with shelves and lighting made from plumbing fixtures. There are large overstuffed sofas available to sit on in the middle of the space. If you want the best views, pull up a bar stool on the balcony. Sunday through Monday they feature easy listening tunes. On Thursday night they up the party feel and begin playing electro music. They keep the party going through Saturday.
Vanilla Sky Bar
The Vanilla Sky Bar offers some phenomenal views of the city. There is a 360-degree view from the 36th floor of the Compass Skyview Hotel. Keep in mind this is a true bar, offering only bar snacks such as pretzels and peanuts to their guests.
The edge of the rooftop is lined with high tables, allowing guests to have a perfect view. In the center, there are couches set up for a cozy sit down with friends. The bartender is a sight to behold. They do amazing mixologist tricks, entertaining the guests. Follow their Facebook page to know what the latest promotion is as they do not do regular Happy Hours.
The Vanilla Sky is known for their amazing Dry Martini’s, Margarita’s, and Cosmopolitans. It is popular, so if you want the best view, be sure to reserve a table on the edge!
